Pica is an eating disorder where individuals have a compulsion to eat non-food items, such as dirt, clay, or paper, which can be harmful to their health.

Pica is characterized by the persistent consumption of substances with no nutritional value for a period of at least one month, and is not appropriate to the developmental level of the individual. It is often observed in pregnant women, children, and individuals with certain mental health disorders.
